Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and how it's protected — explained simply.

Last updated: July 25, 2026

1. Who we are

ChemLex ("we", "us", "our") provides a desktop educational software and the website chemlex.games. For any question about this policy, contact us at info@chemlex.games.

2. What data we collect

2.1 During the free trial

On first launch, ChemLex generates a technical fingerprint of your device (an encrypted identifier computed from the MAC address and computer name, turned into an irreversible code via the SHA-256 function). This fingerprint is sent to our server solely to check whether a free trial has already been used on this device, to prevent repeated trial resets. It cannot identify you personally and is not linked to a name, email, or other personal information.

2.2 When you make a purchase

Purchases are processed entirely by our payment partner, Payhip. We never receive or store your credit card or payment details — these are handled directly by Payhip under its own privacy policy. We receive from Payhip the information needed to deliver your license (namely your email address and the product purchased).

2.3 Classroom license verification

For classroom license bundles (Duo, Trio, School, etc.), the license code entered in the app is sent to our server to be validated and counted against the Payhip API, in order to respect the number of students covered by the purchased bundle. Individual licenses (60-day, 365-day, lifetime) are validated entirely offline, with no data sent to our server.

2.4 When you contact us

If you email us, we keep that correspondence (your email address and the message content) for as long as needed to respond to your request and follow up.

2.5 Browsing our website

We do not use any audience-measurement or traffic-analytics tool (such as Google Analytics) on chemlex.games. No browsing data is collected when you visit our site.

3. What we don't do

  • We never sell personal data to third parties.
  • We display no advertising and share no data for advertising purposes.
  • We do not collect personal data directly from students who use ChemLex in class — licenses are purchased and managed by teachers or the school.

4. Who data is shared with

We share certain data only with the providers necessary to operate the service:

  • Payhip — payment processing and license management.
  • Hostinger — hosting of our website and verification servers.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and may be located outside your country of residence.

5. How long data is kept

The trial fingerprint is kept for as long as needed to prevent trial-system abuse. Purchase-related data is kept in line with applicable legal and accounting obligations. Correspondence emails are kept for a reasonable time needed to follow up on your request.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about you. To exercise this right, email us at info@chemlex.games — we will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the data we process (encryption of device fingerprints, restricted access to our servers). No system, however, is guaranteed to be 100% secure against unauthorized access.

8. Children and school use

ChemLex is designed to be used in the classroom under a teacher's supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from minor students. Licenses are purchased and managed by adults (teachers, schools, school boards).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.

10. Contact us

For any question about this privacy policy, email us at info@chemlex.games.
